The purpose of buffer packaging is to prevent mechanical damage caused by external forces during the transportation, handling, storage, and other circulation processes.

(1) The external force that the product receives in circulation

There are two kinds of external forces that are affected by the product in the process of circulation: shock and vibration.

Regardless of the transport method used, the most severe impacts encountered by the product often come from loading and unloading operations, mostly due to the package falling onto the ground. 2 vibration. Any package is a multi-freedom vibration system with elasticity and damping, and the vibration generated by the package is the forced vibration driven by the vehicle. The vibration generated by the vehicle is very harmful to the package, especially if the natural frequency of the package is similar to or the same as the vibration frequency of the vehicle, the product will be damaged due to resonance. Such as mechanical abrasion, fatigue damage, packaging deformation, product damage and so on.

(2) General principles of buffer packaging design

1 The product should be firmly fixed in the packaging container, cannot move, and should be supported on the protruding and vulnerable parts. When the same packaging container has multiple products, it should be effectively isolated.

2 Select a suitable cushioning pad to slow down; the area of ​​the cushioning pad depends on the weight of the product or inner package and the characteristics of the cushioning material. In short, the static compression stress on the cushioning pad should be appropriate.

3 The correct choice of cushioning material, the product variety, shape, weight, value, vulnerability and other differences, the buffer material requirements are also different.

4 The packaging structure should be as simple as possible, easy to operate, open and remove the product from the package.

6 When designing, comprehensive consideration should be given to various factors. For example, when calculating the vibration quantity, it is necessary to consider not only the response of the entire package but also the response to critical parts or wearing parts.

(3) General procedure for buffer packaging design

1 to fully grasp the characteristics of the product, including the product's weight, shape, size, material, location and nature of vulnerable parts, natural frequency, the purpose of use of the product, the strength of the product shell, surface conditions, prominent parts and so on.

2 Understand whether there are accessories that are packaged with the product. If so, you should find out the relevant conditions, whether the product needs to be packaged individually or packaged, and the quantity of products contained inside.

3 Understand the external forces, transportation methods, climate conditions, environmental conditions, storage conditions and storage time of the packages in circulation.

4 determine the overall structure of the packaging, which depends on the need to adopt which kind of packaging technology to determine the level of packaging structure.

5 According to the characteristics of the product, choose a buffer material that can meet the requirements and economic, determine the way of the gasket and its size.

6 The method of fixing the contents in the package must be firm and stable.

7 Accounting for packaging materials, processing fees, etc., to evaluate whether the design is economically reasonable.
