The BOVET by Pininfarina collection, launched alongside the Amadeo® case in 2010, has introduced three remarkable tourbillons—OTTANTA®, OTTANTADUE, and OTANTATRE—as well as a chronograph called Cambiano. Following the success of the Ottanta tourbillon, BOVET introduced the new "Sergio" two-second chronograph, inspired by the iconic Sergio Ferrari car. This collaboration marks a unique fusion of horology and automotive design, showcasing the legacy of both Pininfarina and Ferrari.
At the Geneva Motor Show, the striking "Sergio" Ferrari was unveiled—a sports car designed by the Pininfarina Design Studio to honor Sergio Pininfarina, the family's president at the time. The car symbolized decades of passion and innovation between Pininfarina and Ferrari. Inspired by this, Paolo Pininfarina commissioned DIMIER 1738 Workshop to create a watch that would mirror the performance and elegance of the car. Under Pascal Raffy’s leadership, the team crafted a timepiece that captured the dynamic essence of the vehicle.
The "Sergio" chronograph features a small seconds subdial, a 30-minute counter, and a power reserve indicator. Its standout feature is the dual-second hand design, allowing users to measure two separate time intervals simultaneously—perfect for racing or precision timing. The timer buttons on either side of the crown offer intuitive control: one press starts or stops the timer, while a second press resets it instantly.
The dial showcases four concave elements, each serving a specific function. A 30-minute counter sits at 12 o'clock, the small seconds at 6 o'clock, and power reserve indicators at 3 and 9 o'clock. These details are complemented by the BOVET 1822 and Pininfarina logos, highlighting the partnership. The concave shapes echo the design of the Sergio car, while the anthracite-plated ruthenium dial adds depth and character. The white markings ensure excellent legibility under varying lighting conditions.
Like its predecessors, the "Sergio" chronograph retains the Amadeo® system, enabling the watch to transform into a pocket watch or a desk clock. Optional metal cases add an elegant touch, making it a versatile piece for both daily wear and special occasions.
