Covet House blog presents,
The Milu Hotel, designed by Studio Do the contemporary hotel, blends classic Italian hospitality with modern design and a playful, minimalist aesthetic. Located in the heart of Florence’s fashion and design district, this new hotel is already making waves with its unique charm.
Nestled in one of Florence’s most prestigious neighborhoods, the Milu Hotel was created by Studio Do the in collaboration with architect David Ohayon, Carmel Ilan, and Matteo Baroni. This contemporary hotel transforms a historic property into a stylish haven that celebrates both heritage and innovation.
Originally known as Palazzo Altoviti-Sangalletti, the building dates back to the 1400s and was once home to Florentine aristocracy. In 1835, it was renovated by artist and architect Giovan Battista Silvestri, who connected it with the adjacent Palazzo Gerard-Uguccioni. The exterior features large stone slabs and symmetrical arched windows, reflecting the grandeur of its past.
The interiors are equally impressive, with art carefully curated by the hotel’s team. The opening exhibition featured works by artists like Maya Gelfner, Galia Gur Ziv, and Carmel Ilan. A video installation by Ronen Sharabani is currently on display in the open gallery, an ever-changing space on the second floor showcasing international artists across various disciplines.
With 22 elegantly designed rooms, the Milu Hotel offers a seamless fusion of old-world charm and modern comfort. The five-floor structure includes a preserved 19th-century grand staircase, connecting the historic exterior with contemporary interiors that provide a luxurious and relaxing stay for every guest.
Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from bold Missoni pillows paired with white linens to Gubi seating and Venetian gold, Murano glass, and Italian black marble accents that pay tribute to timeless Italian craftsmanship.
