Interpretation of common quality problems in die cutting

In the production of self-adhesive labels, the die-cutting quality has the same status as the printing quality. The quality of the die-cutting quality directly affects the subsequent processes of the label processing, and even ultimately leads to product defects. One link cannot be ignored. In the die-cutting process of self-adhesive labels, the common quality problems of die-cutting are: constant die-cutting, die-cutting overflow glue, die-cutting base paper cutting, etc. The following describes how to solve these common problems:

1. Continuous die cutting

First of all, it is necessary to check whether the position of the die cutting is repeatable. If it repeats regularly, then the problem must be related to the die cutting knife. In this case, if it is round die-cutting, the die-cutting pressure can be increased as a whole, which may solve the problem of continuous die-cutting and accelerate the wear of the die-cutting knife. If within the scope of increasing the allowable pressure, the problem of continuous die cutting cannot be solved, then only a new die cutter can be replaced. In the case of flat die cutting, the pressure can be adjusted locally.

If the problem of continuous die cutting is not repeated regularly, the problem may be caused by the accuracy of the machine gear, the running tension of the material, and the lack of die cutting pressure. In this case, it is necessary to check the material running tension and adjust the die cutting pressure to solve.

Second, die-cut overflow glue

Die-cutting glue refers to the overflow of glue on the edge of the label after being processed by the label die-cutting process. It is a common defect performance of self-adhesive products. Spilled glue will cause defects in label appearance, printing contamination, and poor peeling. The problem of die-cutting overflow glue is also solved from the following aspects:

1. Performance analysis of label materials: different types of materials have different characteristics of adhesive types, adhesive processing properties, etc. Therefore, you should consult with material suppliers for relevant performance characteristics before production, and choose materials suitable for your processing technology .

2. Label processing and storage environment control: label processing and storage environment temperature should be controlled in the range of 23 +/- 3 degrees Celsius, humidity should be controlled in the relative range of 55 +/- 5%, too high temperature and humidity will increase the viscosity The fluidity of the adhesive, in actual production, we can clearly feel that during the summer production, the phenomenon of die-cutting glue overflow is more common, on the contrary, it is rare in winter, which is the reason.

3. Label die-cutting quality control: a sharp knife must be used to die-cut the label, and the obtuse-edged blade will squeeze the label adhesive, causing the label edge to overflow during the die-cutting process. Excessively deep die-cutting pressure will also cause excessive squeezing of the label adhesive. Too shallow die-cutting pressure may cause the adhesive to be drawn during the die-cutting process, resulting in overflowing of the adhesive on the label edge or label surface. Therefore, the choice of die cutter is the key.

4. Label processing technology control: It is necessary to avoid sliding friction on the label during label processing. It is easy to accumulate die-cutting glue on the components that have sliding friction with the label, and then pollute the edge of the label. Such a phenomenon of overflow of glue on the label The location will show obvious regularity and directionality.

5. Label rewinding tension control: Excessive rewinding tension will excessively squeeze the label adhesive, and even cause the label to slip on the backing paper, which will cause the label to overflow. For non-square shaped labels, due to the inconsistency of the rewinding tension in the axial direction, it is easy to cause the phenomenon of excessive local tension, resulting in the local overflow of the label. Square labels with a small area are also prone to label overflow due to greater pressure under the same pressure.

3. Die-cutting paper cut through

On many hand-labeled products, the phenomenon of die-cutting base paper is very common. This is mainly due to the limitation of the accuracy of the customer's die-cutting device and the labeling method has no tension requirements on the base paper; if it is automatic labeling, die-cutting Cutting through the backing paper often causes the end user to encounter a break in the backing paper of the label during automatic labeling. Therefore, we should choose the hob die cutting method with higher die cutting accuracy.

4. Other matters needing attention

1. Do not use a die-cutting knife that has die-cut the paper and then die-cut the film. Because the blade has been worn after die-cutting the paper.

2. During the die-cutting process, use special markers or marker brushes and other inspection tools to check the quality of the die-cutting.

3. Die-cutting PET materials, must use sharp-edged, hardness-processed die-cutting knives.
