Introduction to the composition of gold and silver ink

Like other inks, gold and silver inks are mainly composed of pigments and binders. Simply put, gold inks are made of gold powder and gold oil, and silver inks are made of aluminum powder and silver oil. Made.

1. Pigment

The pigment in the gold ink is gold powder, which is actually a powder made of copper and zinc alloy. The zinc content in the gold powder is generally about 8% to 30%, and the zinc content is between 8% and 12% The color of the gold ink is reddish, which is traditionally called red gold, and the color of the gold ink with a zinc content of 20% to 30% is blued, generally called green gold, which is called between red gold and green gold It is green and red gold. In gravure printing, 800-gold gold powder is generally used for the preparation of gold ink, and the surface of the gold powder particles are mostly covered with surfactant, which can be well combined with the resin binder. Silver powder is actually aluminum powder, which is composed of 65% flake aluminum powder and 35% volatile hydrocarbon solvents. The specific gravity of aluminum powder pigment is small, and it is easy to float in the liquid. The silver ink used in gravure silver ink is the floating silver powder with floating ability in the binder. Silver ink generally uses 400-1000 mesh silver powder. If printing silver ink on a large area, a lower mesh silver powder can be used. For example, 400-mesh silver powder is used to prepare silver ink, which has a high metallic luster after printing.

2. Link material

The connecting material used in gold and silver inks is a special ink-adjusting oil, generally called gold-adjusting oil or silver-adjusting oil. The main components are oil, resin, and organic solvent auxiliary materials.

The linking material of offset printing ink should meet the following conditions:

â‘  Must have sufficient viscosity to combine well with gold powder or silver powder.

â‘¡Transparency must be high, and can not affect the hue of gold and silver ink.

â‘¢ The acidity of gold-adjusting oil or silver-adjusting oil should be low, otherwise chemical reaction of gold powder or silver powder will occur.

â‘£Gold-adjusted oil or silver-adjusted oil should also have quick-drying and fast-fixing properties to prevent the back side of the gold ink or silver ink printed matter from becoming dirty.

3. Additives

Adding a small amount of gloss paste or transparent yellow to the metal can enhance the ink affinity and transferability of the gold ink; adding a small amount of red dry oil to the gold ink in winter can speed up the drying speed; adding stearic acid amide surface activity when adjusting the ink It can make the gold powder fully wet, disperse and float in the binder. Reduce the phenomenon of scumming and ink stacking in the process of ink transfer. Adding a small amount of gloss paste to the gold ink can dilute the gold ink, at the same time improve the brightness and viscosity, reduce the accumulation of gold ink, and improve the fluidity.
