Application of Digital Technology in Flexo Printing

Direct platemaking refers to the process of outputting graphics and documents directly to the plate through a computer, and the plate can be eliminated as an intermediate link. The dedicated digital media is mounted on the platesetter. Digital imposition files are sent to the computer RIP. The RIP then sends the electronic files to the platemaking machine. The laser-ablation technique is used to directly image the plates. Then proceed to print in the usual way.
Digital platemaking has the following outstanding advantages:
1 does not require negatives - conducive to environmental protection;
2 The printing machine has a very low network expansion;
3 has a high contrast;
4 has a wide range of outlet percentages (1% to 99%);
5 accurate reproduction of excellent clarity;
6 Improved shadow and highlight areas;
7 with finer lines and smaller fonts;
8 has a smooth transition vignetting;
9 Relaxed strict conditions for printer registration;
This digital plate making method is called computer-to-plate (CTP), and there is also a digital direct imaging technology. Abbreviated as DI (Direct Imaging), it is a digital process computer design. After the typesetting digital file is directly imaged on the plate cylinder of the printing press, the direct printing DI technology can be directly printed without outputting the film, printing and proofing, and is also welcomed by the packaging industry.
Direct platemaking cannot be said to be a new technology, but should be said to be a new application of technology. This technique is to ablate the dots directly on the plate by photoexcitation during the platemaking process without the need to corrode the plate after the film has been projected onto the plate. Therefore, the dot step on the digital platemaking plate is a direct imaging dot.
