China's engineering manufacturing specialty is only the first stage of the "industrialization system" process - the formation of the processing system, while the industrial design professional with innovative capabilities is difficult to be based on this subsystem. Second, under the system of planned economy, product purchases and underwriting and supply are in short supply, which is the seller’s market. Under such historical conditions, there is no need for “industrial design”.

　　 With the reform and opening up, since the late 1970s, a group of people of insight in China have actively advocated the development of China's industrial design business, making great progress in the past 20 years. In the early 1980s, universities and colleges began to set up industrial design majors; now, there are more than 200 colleges and universities in the country that have created design majors; a group of young industrial design professionals are forming in China’s coastal cities. A number of socially oriented industrial design companies or firms; in some large companies, industrial design departments have also been established. Industrial design has begun to achieve success in product design. Due to the partial advancement of industrial design, the product shapes of enterprises are diversified, but from the overall perspective of society, compared with the development of international industrial design, industrial design is still in the early stage of development in China, and it has not yet formed the pole of developed countries. Active "productivity" creates highly profitable "industries." Although the principle of “setting production by sales” is more advanced than “determining sales by production”, the understanding of “market” attracting consumption mechanisms mostly stays in the shallow level of “shopping” consciousness. The essence of the concept of the big market is not the "shape" design, but the "service" user as the "base."

　　 Therefore, the real task of "industrial design" is to "need" the research and analysis of the needs of the new lifestyle and the conceptual design determined thereby. This is to use “positioning” as an evaluation system to select, organize technology, and make “products: the concept of “goods” that has been formed in the “positioning” at the same time, so that the planning and implementation of sales can be promoted by “concurrent engineering”; The "supplies" entering the tens of thousands of households truly meet the goals of "service" and "people-oriented." As the need for sustained economic development and ecological balance is maturing, another important factor in the "positioning" of inspection design is the production, sales, and use. Even consider the resources, ecology and other factors in the process of destruction and reuse.

　　 At present, in the “small market” mechanism of “marketing by sales”, companies are forced to get into a vicious cycle and the vortices of “price wars” cannot extricate themselves. The main reason is that it has not mastered the methodology of industrial design. Therefore, it has failed to make the “customer-centered” “service” target a profitable enterprise in the industrial structure and product structure adjustment strategy and even the concept of “brand” and “quality”. Fundamental conditions, and only grasp the "hardware", technology, processing quality, advertising, marketing and corporate image strategy and other methods and surface brilliance; do not grasp the fundamental market positioning, market differentiation strategy, that is, do not grasp industrial design, corporate technology Innovation will lose its goal and cause great waste of resources; the competition of enterprises will only stay at a low level, and the benefits will be lost. Enterprises will not be truly mature. The inefficiency, sustainable development, and competitiveness of resource allocation cannot be guaranteed, and then China's industrialization system cannot be formed.

In 1997, the output value reached 12 billion pounds.
