The Institute of Chemical Metallurgy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has successfully developed a new process for the synthesis of allantoin.
Allantoin is an important fine chemical product, widely used in medicine, light industry, daily chemical, agriculture and biological engineering.
At present, the annual production capacity of allantoin in the world is 50,000 tons, and the annual demand is 150,000 to 200,000 tons. In China, research and development of allantoin began in the 1980s. At present, there are only a few pharmaceutical plants and chemical plants that are produced on a small scale, and the production process is relatively backward.
The new process uses urea and a variety of raw materials condensation made allantoin, and one-step catalytic synthesis process, with a simple process, high yield, easy to obtain raw materials, low cost and so on.
